CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa says he would prefer joining
Arsenal in the summer, while confirming Leicester City’s interest in January.
CSKA turned down bids of £15million and £18.7m from
Leicester in the winter window but the Moscow outfit did not want to sell as
they currently sit top of the Russian Premier League table.
Musa himself, insists he wanted to complete the current
season with the Russian outfit before a possible move, and says he has been a
fan of compatriot Nwankwo Kanu since when he was at Arsenal.
“I would be happy if I was wanted by Arsenal,” he said on Independent.
“I have supported the team since the age of six. Kanu has
been my idol since childhood. It will be fantastic to play for Arsenal.
“I will not hide it; Leicester actually came to our club.
But I repeat that I want to finish the season with CSKA to help them to win a
championship, and then think about changing team.”
Musa, 23, is already captain of Nigeria and has thus far
scored 11 goals in 30 appearances for the Russian Premier League leaders this
season.
