Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has asked Nigerians to
forgive his “error of editing” after receiving wide condemnation for releasing
a video where he called his critics insane.
Oliseh, who claimed in the video that some of his former
national team mates are accusing him for crashing out of the African Nations
Championship, instead of supporting the team.
He also revealed that he never begged to coach the Super
Eagles, and he rejected the offer from the Nigeria Football Federation twice
before he finally accepted it.
That video did not go down well with most the football
federation, sports writers and many football lovers, and News24 demanded an
apology from the coach to Nigerians.
But Oliseh has explained that he was not referring to the
170 million football loving Nigerians, but only a few who always criticize him.
“Please when i spoke of Critics i did not mean the general
public of Nigeria! I would never dare refer to my beloved country men as
Insane!” He wrote on twitter.
“How dare i Insult 170 Million people who i love and have
shown me so much love. Please forgive the Error of editing! God bless you all.”
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has issued
a seven day ultimatum to Oliseh to name journalists he claimed demanded money
in exchange for favourable stories about the Super Eagles.
