Stoke City overlook Odemwingie after failed transfer attempt

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes did not list striker Peter Odemwingie in their 3-0 loss to Manchester United in an English Premier League game played at Old Trafford on Tuesday after the player failed to complete a transfer to Marseille.

Odemwingie reportedly flew to the French club on the January transfer deadline day in a bid to move away from the English club.

But Stoke reportedly rejected a bid for the striker from Marseille, and that decision may have caused a sour relationship between the club management and the Nigerian.

Odemwingie only made a return to competitive football action at his Premiership side Stoke City in a 3-1 victory over Norwich on Wednesday, January 13 after three months on the sideline.

It could be recalled that Odemwingie forced a January transfer move from West Brom to QPR in 2013, but the transfer was botched on deadline day.

Goals from Jesse Lingard and Martial’s masterpiece inside the first 23 minutes – with Wayne Rooney netting a third after the break – helped Manchester United to a 3-0 victory over Stoke.
